Lent Course 2024
Taking part in a Lent course can be a helpful way of observing Lent.
Spiritual reflection and growth: Lent courses provide a dedicated time for Christians to reflect on their faith, deepen their understanding of Christian themes, and prepare their hearts for the Easter celebration.
Community and fellowship: These courses often take place in small group settings, fostering a sense of community and shared learning.
Exploration and discussion: Lent courses typically cover a variety of topics related to faith, life, and current issues. They encourage open discussion and reflection among participants.
This year's Lent Course is focusing on prayer
Each week participants will consider a different form of prayer and there will be lots of opportunities to pray, to ask questions and to challenge.
Each session is standalone so don’t worry if you can’t make them all.
Either sign up on the list at the back of church or online here.
Onsite at 2 pm each Tuesday in Lent.
Tuesday 20th Feb: Prayer Without Words
With God, we do not necessarily have to use words. “Prayer Without Words” seeks to give God space to talk to us in the silence of our deepest being. Our mantra is, “be still and know that I am God”.
Tuesday 27th Feb: lectio divina
A practice of prayer and reflection through scriptural reading, which builds knowledge of God's living word and how it relates to today's world and its needs.
Tuesday 5th March: take time meditation
Based on Bible passages, Take-Time meditation enables you to enter into stories imaginatively – it allows you to speak to – and to listen to Jesus.
Tuesday 12th March: prayer stations
This is like taking a special walk with God, where you stop to think, feel, and express yourself in different ways.
Tuesday 19th March: The Sorrowful Mysteries
The “Sorrowful Mysteries”, are one of the prayer meditations associated with saying “The Holy Rosary”.
