Our Foodbank is meeting an increasing number of needs in our community. We always need food for our bins in church and we are always keen to hear of people willing to become part of the team.
St Matthew’s Coffee Shop is the meeting point for the work of Street pastors. They are out in the town from 10pm until the early hours, mainly on Friday’s, offering support and help to anyone who needs it. Street pastors is part of a national organisation and full training is given to anyone who would like to join them.
We work in partnership with the Redhill-based charity Renewed Hope Trust and other churches in the town to provide frontline care to those who have nowhere to go. The drop in takes place at Shrewsbury Chapel (Shrewsbury Rd, Redhill) and the East Surrey Winter Night Shelter draws on several hundred Christian volunteers to offer shelter at various locations, including St Matthew’s, during the winter months.
Our community coffee shop Fresh Ground is open until 2.30pm every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. It has become a very popular place to relax and chat; offering a wide range of quality Fair trade hot and cold drinks, light lunches and a variety of snacks. Volunteers are needed to help run the Coffee shop serving our local community. If you are interested in helping out please get in touch.
