Funerals

Arranging a Funeral

We are always ready to help with the provision of a funeral for a loved one. We can offer a service in St Matthew’s Church or lead a service at the local crematorium or cemetery. Services in church are not just for those who may have been regularĀ attenders, we would open our church for anyone in the community who would like this, knowing that there would naturally be a religious character to what we offer.

Your first port of call would usually be with your funeral director who would contact us on your behalf to discuss dates and times. We would then ask to meet with you and your family to offer pastoral support and also to agree the content of the service. We can always try to include in the service things that will make the day feel personal to you and your loved one.

Some people like to think about their funeral years in advance and one of our team would always be happy to meet with you if we can help with this in any way.

End of Life

When life is drawing to an end for yourself or someone you love, it can be very hard to know where to turn. Being with people at this time is at the heart of what St Matthew’s is all about.

If you need one of us to come to say prayers at the bedside of someone you care about – or you want to make sure that we will come to you at such a time, then do let your family know, or speak to one of the team here.
