Sunday Morning Groups
On Sunday mornings during the first half of the service we run a number of children’s activities. We believe at St. Matthew’s that our children deserve the very best in the nurturing of their spirituality, so, rather than have them sitting through a sermon which is mostly aimed at the adult members of the congregation, they have their own groups where they are able to engage with the scriptures in their own way. Our Sunday morning groups meet every week during term time. During the holidays they meet as one big group.
Small Steps
Especially for the under 5’s. Children go out during the hymn just before the Gospel reading, along with their parent(s)/carer. The group normally takes the format of a Godly Play or story session, great fun for children and adults alike!
For children who are rising 5 up to and including school year 2.
Stepping Stones

For children who are in school year 3 to year 6. Learning about our faith and traditions through stories and craft… they meet during the first half of the service and re-join the congregation , along with Small Steps at the point in the service where we share Christ’s peace with each other.

Uniformed Organisations
We are so pleased that our Church hall is able to host our local Beavers, Rainbows and Brownie groups. Each group is often looking for more helpers, and we also welcome enquiries about joining the various groups.
