An Important Message from Fr Andrew…

Dear Members of the St Matthew’s Church Family

The beginning of a New Year opens up fresh possibilities for us all and this will be true for me especially this year, as I announced in church this morning that I would be finishing my time as Vicar of St Matthew’s in the coming three months.

Whilst I am not ready to stop being a Parish Priest just yet, I do know that I have reached the time where I need a little more personal space in my life.

St Matthew’s is a strong church with a great future, but I believe that now, fresh vision, fresh energy and fresh leadership is needed for the way forward.

I have been appointed as Parish Priest to the parish of All Saints Findon Valley with St Peter’s High Salvington. This is right on the edge of Worthing, which some of you will know is my hometown and where my Mother still lives.

This new role is called a “.5 post” which means I will be required to work on three days a week plus Sunday, and I am looking forward to being of service to the folks there.

A leaving date for me has yet to be finally agreed, but it is likely to be sometime around Easter.

You will know how much I have enjoyed being your Vicar, and leading this parish, but I know this is the right time for me to make this move.

Alison and I look forward to continuing to share in our life together with you all for these remaining weeks of our time at St Matthew’s and I know that I am leaving the parish in safe hands both in maintaining the spirit of the life we share and in the process of appointing a successor.

With all my love and prayers

Andrew
