As part of our 150th celebrations the Most Rev. Rowan Williams, former Archbishop of Canterbury, visited St Matthew’s as one of our guest preachers and led our St Matthew’s Day Service. This was a truly wonderful and memorable morning.
Remembrance Poppy Installation

This stunning installation was created during our Remembrance Art Day, where around 30 people of all ages came together to help make the idea a reality. Some of the poppy’s were beautifully crocheted or knitted. The names on the crosses came from the memorial at the back of the church.
Royal Albert Hall Tour

A very special ‘Lads at Large’ outing to the Royal Albert Hall for an access all areas tour, including a spectacular opportunity to look down into the hall from roof level about 130 feet above the floor.
Elizabeth Tower Tour

A fascinating ‘Lads at Large’ trip to the top of the Elizabeth Tower (Big Ben) to see how the oldest tower clock in the world works, the inside of the four clock faces and watch Big Ben chime!
Unlock London Walk

On Saturday 3rd May a band of St. Matthew’s Pilgrims took part in the 2014 Unlock London Charity Walk. Our 8 mile trek took us around Kentish Town and Camden and a walk alongside the canal from Caledonian Road to a very crowded Camden Lock! During the walk we visited a number of churches where we were made very welcome. Looking forward to 2015!

Walking Treasure Hunt

On a dry day with some sunshine and not too hot, 7 intrepid teams set out from Reigate Heath on the 3rd St. Matthew’s Walking Treasure Hunt. The morning route took them North and then West to the Red Lion at Betchworth for lunch.

On one of the few days in June when almost no rain fell, 30 intrepid members of St Matthew’s congregation met in Brockham for the second of our walking treasure hunts. With a mixture of written clues and photographs to identify there was something to keep all eight groups busy during the 6-mile walk.
