Church Choir & Music Group

St. Matthew’s Church Choir

Church Choir

We are a mixed choir with over 20 members of all ages. Singing at regular main services on Sundays, the choir is an integral and leading part of the worship at the Parish Church of St Matthew.

We also sing at major seasonal services, such as the Festival of Nine Lessons & Carols by Candlelight, weddings, concerts and other special occasions; while enjoying a social calendar of events including ten pin bowling, the annual choir party and various other outings.

Members of the choir help lead the praise and worship at St. Matthew’s, have the opportunity to sing a variety of great music in a beautiful setting and grow as singers with
musical training and development including RSCM courses and awards. Junior choristers receive choir pay and additional bonuses from weddings etc.

If you are interested in singing with us, or if you’d like your child to take part, please get in touch – we’d love to hear from you.

Adhoc Music Group

Adhoc Music Group

Church Choir

The music group has been going for over thirty years and quite a few of us have been playing and singing together for all of that time. We play and sing for the Family Services each month and also for special services throughout the year such as the Crib Service, Christingle, Mothering Sunday and occasional evening Taize services.

We enjoy playing the more modern hymns but do include traditional hymns as well. We also play many Taize settings, particularly during communion. At the moment we have a lead pianist, five guitar players, two flautists, one treble recorder player and eight singers.

We are called Adhoc because we are quite relaxed about our membership and just rehearse before the service with whoever turns up on the day! We always welcome new members so if you sing or play an instrument just come and talk to us at the end of one of the Family Services.
